School Facilities upgraded since Winston Damage

Fiji Times, Fri 2 Feb – FOUR schools in the West which sustained significant damage after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston have resumed classes in proper learning facilities.

Attorney-General and Education Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum commissioned the various school facilities in Tavua and Lautoka yesterday.

Balata College vice-principal Sudeshna Kumar said the Tavua school had to move students to tents and specialist rooms after classrooms were damaged in 2016.

“We are grateful that five new classrooms have been built and students will be in a conducive learning environment,” Ms Kumar said.
