NAMA Fiji launches new initiatives for spa market

NAMA Fiji founder Debra Sadranu has announced a CIDESCO Spa Management course and a new men’s skincare line, speaking at the Industry News and Future Insights session at the CIDESCO 2026 Congress.

The CIDESCO Spa Management course launches in November and is aimed at closing a long-standing gap in local expertise. Sadranu said over 400 resorts in Fiji currently rely on overseas hires for spa director roles because that level of local expertise does not yet exist. The course does not require applicants to be trained spa therapists.

“People don’t have to be a spa therapist to take this course, they can just have the passion for tourism,” she said. Graduates will get hands-on international experience through rotations across NAMA Fiji’s network of spas. Sadranu called the course a potential “game changer” for the industry, pointing to how much spa tourism contributes in foreign revenue, employment, and resort investment in quality spa facilities.

NAMA Fiji has also launched a men’s skincare line, created by Sadranu’s son Vetaia. The launch coincided with a campaign sponsoring young Fijian professional surfers on the World Surf League. Sadranu said the timing reflects growing global interest among men in skincare and wellness, a market she noted remains “less competitive than women’s.” She said the goal was to give Fiji “a brand out there” for men’s skincare while staying true to the brand’s “sea to skin” ethos.

NAMA Fiji has also opened its first international spa in Melbourne, its first step into overseas expansion, stocking products from three Fijian SMEs and offering an exclusive NAMA Hammam Thalasso treatment.

Sadranu credited the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Fiji for their support in showcasing Fiji’s wellness industry at the congress, and said she expects spa tourism to become “a significant part of Fiji’s tourism identity” over the next five years.
