Overnight Weather Update - 15 December 2016

The latest satellite imagery continues to show that TD04F is some ways off becoming a tropical cyclone as the central cloud cover is showing signs of high level wind shear indicating that the intensification is not really happening yet, or at least its only happening very slowly. But rainfall has been significant, at least in parts, with over 200 millimetres reported in the 24 hours to 9am this morning at Navua.

Rain will continue over night and again tomorrow as the low slowly drifts south-southeast towards the western division.

Expect conditions to deteriorate further tomorrow, both wind and rain increasing.

At this time the track remains west of Viti Levu, however northeast winds will tend northerly on Saturday as rain intensifies.

The heavy rain and flood warnings remain in force.

Sincerely,
