Fiji Times Saturday 30 September 2017 Update: 1:37PM THE World Tourism Day was launched by Minister for Tourism and Industry and Trade, Faiyaz Koya at Ratu Sukuna Park this morning.
With the theme, ‘Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development’, this year is dedicated to enhancing the contribution of tourism to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mr Koya said today is a special day because it has been designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, in recognizing the potential tourism has in generating increased economic activity in a sustainable manner.
