Fiji Times, Tues Feb 20 -Speaking at the 20th Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum, the AG spoke about the implications of climate change on the education sector.
“We have a country called Tuvalu in the Pacific, the highest peak above sea level is 12 feet and they’ve already bought about 5000 acres of land in Fiji and, of course, it’s for sustainable food sources.
“You cannot plant food in that land any longer because of salinity levels and these have an impact on the ability of parents to send their children to school, the impact and ability to attend school as priorities change and all this must be taken into consideration.”Read in Fiji Times
