HEAVY RAIN WARNING
A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR EASTERN VITI LEVU, YASAWA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP.
A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE REST OF FIJI.
SITUATION:
TROPICAL DEPRESSION TD14F CENTRE [1000HPA] WAS ANALYSED NEAR 15.9S 178.8 EAST OR ABOUT 80KM NORTHWEST OF LABASA AND ABOUT 280KM WEST-NORTHWEST OF VANUABALAVU AT 11AM TODAY. TD14F MOVING SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 15KM/HR TOWARDS LABASA. ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN AFFECTS THE GROUP.
TROPICAL DISTURBANCE TD12F LIES SLOW MOVING TO THE FAR WEST OF FIJI.
THE POTENTIAL FOR TD14F TO DEVELOP INTO A TROPICAL CYCLONE OVER FIJI WATERS IS LOW( 5-20%).
FORECAST:
FOR VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND NORTHERN LAU GROUP: PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS.
FOR YASAWA GROUP, EASTERN PARTS OF VITI LEVU, SOUTHERN LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP: PERIODS OF RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS.
FOR THE REST OF FIJI: OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND FEW THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY FALLS. SHOWERS POSSIBLY INCREASING TO RAIN AND BECOMING FREQUENT AND HEAVY AT TIMES WITH SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS FROM LATER TODAY. LOCALISED HEAVY RAIN MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING IN THESE AREAS.
