SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER SEVENTY ONE FOR FLOOD ISSUED FROM RSMC NADI AT 01.00PM ON MONDAY THE 13th OF FEBRUARY 2017

FLOOD ALERT

A FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE FOLLOWING LOW LYING AREAS AND AREAS ADJACENT TO RAKIRAKI TOWN AND DOWNSTREAM OF RAKIRAKI STATION.

A FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LOW LYING AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS ADJACENT TO MAJOR RIVERS FOR VANUA LEVU.

SITUATION

A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WITH ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN LIES SLOW MOVING OVER FIJI. MEANWHILE, ANOTHER TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE TO THE NORTH OF FIJI IS EXPECTED TO DRIFT SOUTH AND AFFECT THE COUNTRY FROM TUESDAY.

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR YASAWA AND MAMANUCA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY ISLANDS, LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP.

LEVEL AT RAKIRAKI STATION WAS 1.77M AT 12.30PM WHICH IS 0.27M ABOVE ALERT LEVEL AND DECREASING.
