Natadola, Fiji, 8 June 2026: A new community-led coastal clean-up movement will launch at Natadola Beach on Saturday, 11 July 2026, bringing together residents, tourism operators, hotel teams, visitors and partners to help reduce coastal waste and protect Fiji’s marine environment.

The inaugural One Beach Fiji clean-up will take place from 8:00am to 11:00am along Natadola Beach on the Coral Coast, one of Fiji’s most recognised beaches. The event is open to local communities, families, visitors and hotel guests, with equipment, refreshments and light morning tea provided.

The initiative marks the start of a broader campaign to restore and protect Fiji’s coastlines, one beach at a time. Built around practical action, community participation and environmental awareness, One Beach Fiji aims to help prevent waste from entering fragile marine ecosystems while encouraging greater shared responsibility for Fiji’s natural environment.

The first clean-up is supported by FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels, including InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva and Holiday Inn Suva, alongside community and private sector collaborators. The hotels’ involvement reflects a wider commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable tourism, aligned with IHG Hotels and Resorts’ Journey to Tomorrow framework.

In the lead-up to the clean-up, the hotel group will also host ‘Cup of Kindness’ fundraising activations across Suva and Natadola, with proceeds supporting the community-led environmental effort. Fundraising through coffee sales will take place on 10 and 24 July 2026.

“We are privileged to operate in one of the most beautiful environments in the world, and with that comes a responsibility to protect it,” said Lachlan Walker, Regional General Manager, Fiji and Pacific, IHG Hotels and Resorts.

“This partnership reflects not only our commitment as hotel operators, but also as part of a 100 percent Fijian-owned investment portfolio through the Fiji National Provident Fund. By supporting initiatives like One Beach Fiji, we are taking practical steps to care for our coastlines, support our communities, and contribute to a more sustainable future for tourism in Fiji.”

Natadola Beach is widely regarded as one of Viti Levu’s best beaches and is known for its white sand, clear lagoon waters and strong appeal among both local and international visitors. The launch clean-up recognises the importance of protecting such high-value natural assets, not only for tourism, but for the communities and ecosystems that depend on them.

One Beach Fiji is intended to grow over time, with future clean-ups planned for other beaches across Fiji.
