Suva, 30 October 2026 – Marriott International has signed an agreement with Dubbo Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), to convert the Westin Fiji Golf Resort & Spa on Denarau Island into JW Marriott Fiji Resort & Spa. The 282-key property is expected to open in the first quarter of 2027, with reservations anticipated to open in December 2026.
The signing marks the planned debut of the JW Marriott brand in the Pacific Islands and the first luxury brand resort in Marriott’s regional portfolio. The Westin Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is a member of the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA). The conversion of an existing resort with an important place in Fiji’s hospitality history is intended to set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality and strengthen Fiji’s position in the luxury travel market.
“Fiji is one of the Pacific’s most compelling resort destinations, and we are excited to work with Fiji National Provident Fund to introduce JW Marriott to the market. JW Marriott’s focus on mindful experiences, meaningful connections and holistic well-being is a natural complement to the resort’s beautiful natural setting on Denarau Island. We look forward to creating a destination where guests can come together, be present and experience the warmth of Fiji through the lens of this exceptional luxury brand,” said Rajeev Menon, President, Asia Pacific Excluding China, Marriott International.
FNPF Chief Executive Officer Viliame Vodonaivalu said: “As custodians of our members’ retirement savings, every investment decision we make is centred on creating long-term value for the people of Fiji. The introduction of JW Marriott is a significant milestone for one of our key tourism assets and reflects our confidence in the future of Fiji’s tourism industry. Through this collaboration, we are not only strengthening an important investment on behalf of our members, but also supporting an industry that creates jobs, attracts visitors and contributes to the growth of our economy. We are proud to see this iconic Fijian resort enter a new chapter with one of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands.”
The resort is planned to feature premium guestrooms and suites, two-bedroom villas with private swimming pools, a large family pool and a dedicated adults-only pool with a poolside bar and dining. A kids club and a teen zone are also planned. The 282 rooms, suites and villas include 72 adults-only rooms and suites, 28 of which have private plunge pools.
Dining plans include an all-day restaurant combining global flavours and Pacific traditions, a Japanese-influenced specialty restaurant using locally sourced ingredients, a wine and cocktail lounge, JW Market for casual refreshments and grab-and-go options, and an elevated dining and cultural experience rooted in Fijian tradition.
