India now our fastest growing source market

Fiji Sun Wednesday 02 August 2017  Fiji is stepping up efforts to attract visitors from India, which has emerged as the island’s fastest growing source market.

Indian visitor numbers to Fiji more than doubled from 2010 to 2016. In the first half of 2017, visitor numbers from India were up another 28 per cent.

India is now the ninth largest source market for Fiji’s tourism industry after Australia, New Zealand, the US, China, the UK, Canada, Korea and Japan. India has been the fastest growing of these nine markets so far in 2017.

Initiatives from Tourism Fiji and Fiji Airways to boost IndiaFiji traffic have helped drive the growth.

Tourism Fiji has stepped up marketing activities in India as part of an overall drive to diversify Fiji’s visitor base and reduce its reliance on Australia, New Zealand and North America.

Tourism Fiji is holding roadshows in six Indian cities in late July and early August which should lead to a further boost in Indian visitor numbers.  Read more…
