The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association will be hosting a number of workshops and awareness sessions during the annual HOTEC tradeshow at Sheraton Resort, Nadi on November 7th and 8th, 2019.
Registrations for the workshops are free for members and are now open. Non-members will be charged $50 per person.

Thursday 7th November
10:30 – 11:30 am Online Marketing
Find out what the current online market trends are for travelers and what methods you can utilize to harness these trends to maximise your online bookings
11:00 am – 12:30 pm VMS Solutions for Small to Medium Enterprises
If you are a small to medium accommodation provider that is still looking for a VMS compliant solution, this workshop provides an overview of one of the solutions available on the local market.
11:30 am – 12:30 pm Waste Water Management
Waste Water Management is always a key consideration for the Tourism industry. This workshop provides an insight to the impacts of wastewater on the environment and details a possible solution for the local market.
2:00 pm – 4:30 pm ERA from a HR Perspective
The workshop will provide an overview of the Employment Relations Act (ERA) from a Human Resources perspective and will also touch on the Budget Amendments regarding the ERA.
2:30 pm – 3:30 pm Consular Responses
Visitors to our shores sometimes get into strife and part of effectively dealing with these situations is notifying the relevant consulate/embassy. The workshop will provide guidance on the appropriate consular response and the advice that staff are able to offer the foreign traveler.
Friday 8th November
9:30 am – 12:30 pm Credit Card acceptance and compliance
Dealing with credit card transactions can be a confusing process and a costly one if not done correctly. Targeted at front line staff, the workshop, facilitated by the Association of Banks in Fiji, will create awareness around credit card acceptance and compliance. (www.sanjaytaxpro.com)
10:00 am – 12:30 pm OHS Awareness
The OHS Awareness session will inform participants on the requirements and responsibilities of employers with regard to complying with the OHS standards in Fiji. Useful for understanding the role of employers in this context, this also sets the platform to understand OHS training requirements for staff and documentation requirements for compliance.
10:30 am – 12:30 pm Leadership and Management
An interactive session on personal leadership and management, this workshop will touch on stress management, changing habits, coaching and motivating staff.
