2 October 2025, Nadi, Fiji: Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay has placed Fiji firmly on the global wellness map by being officially awarded the 2025 World Wellness Champions, following a transformative three-day World Wellness Weekend program held from 19–21 September. Out of 160 participating countries, the resort stood out for its commitment to wellness, sustainability, and community connection.
The resort’s program united guests, associates, and local community members in complimentary wellness activities and cultural experiences that highlighted Fiji’s natural beauty, traditions, and homegrown wellness brands.
Highlights of resort activations for World Wellness Weekend included:
Mangrove Planting with Pure Fiji: 35 guests, resort associates, and local villagers joined forces to restore the fragile Momi Bay coastline planting 300 mangroves. The partnership with Pure Fiji underscored the shared commitment to sustainability, with the first 20 participants receiving eco-conscious survivor gift packs and sun hats. This collaboration highlighted how wellness extends beyond the spa, it begins with caring for the environment that sustains the resorts local community.
Upcycle Workshop: 20 guests & associates creatively transformed a total of 40 old spa linens into colorful tie-dye fabrics, which were later donated to the Daulomani Children’s Safe Home. This initiative gave new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste, turning them into symbols of care and comfort for children in need. The workshop not only encouraged guests to practice mindful sustainability, but also showcased the resort’s ongoing support for local charities and vulnerable communities.
Cultural Bonfire Night: 18 guests and associates gathered around a bonfire for storytelling, stargazing, and a herbal tea bar. This evening was more than just entertainment; it was an immersive cultural exchange that connected visitors to Fiji’s traditions, oral history, and the rhythms of nature. It reminded both locals and travelers that wellness includes a sense of belonging and connection to heritage.
Sunrise Yoga & Sound Healing: Led by Chopra Yoga Teacher and Health Coach INN, Alla Mallerich, 15 participants began their morning with a yoga flow emphasizing movement and mindfulness, followed by a sound healing meditation that encouraged deep relaxation. By showcasing a homegrown wellness entrepreneur, the resort championed Fiji’s growing health and fitness community, ensuring that international visitors experienced authentic local expertise.
Spa Pop-Up with Nama Fiji: Quan Spa partnered with Fijian brand Nama Fiji to offer complimentary hand facials, treating 15 guests & associates over the course of the day. This activation spotlighted the use of locally harvested sea grapes (nama) known for their hydrating and rejuvenating properties. It not only introduced guests to natural, Fiji-made skincare but also supported the growth of a local business rooted in sustainable harvesting practices.
Sunrise Hike to Momi Lookout: 10 guests and associates completed a scenic 2.5km trek to Momi Lookout, where they were rewarded with fresh coconuts and panoramic views. This activity encouraged physical wellbeing while also highlighting the breathtaking natural landscapes that make Fiji a world-class wellness destination. By blending exercise with cultural appreciation, the hike underscored the holistic nature of wellness — body, mind, and spirit.
“By achieving the World Wellness Weekend Certification, Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay not only reinforced its role as a wellness leader in the Pacific but also reflected Marriott International’s global commitment to caring for people and communities, ensuring that guests, associates, and local partners thrive together.” said Sharonne Naisara, Director of Spa at Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay.
