Fiji Airways launches BRAVE VR leadership training programme

Nadi, Fiji, 2 June 2026: Fiji Airways has launched BRAVE VR, an immersive virtual reality leadership development programme designed to strengthen leadership capability and support behavioural change across the organisation.

BRAVE stands for Boldness, Resilience, Authenticity, Vulnerability and Empathy, five leadership qualities identified by Fiji Airways as important to building confident, resilient and people-focused leaders.

The programme uses virtual reality to place leaders in realistic, scenario-based environments where they can practise decision-making, communication and emotional control in situations that reflect the pressures of modern aviation leadership.

Fiji Airways said the programme marks a significant step in its investment in people and culture, using immersive learning to help leaders better understand how they respond under pressure and how those responses influence their behaviour, judgement and care for others.

Each BRAVE VR module is followed by structured reflection and guided debrief sessions to help participants translate the experience into practical leadership growth.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Scurrah said the programme reflected the airline’s commitment to developing its people for the future.

“As Fiji’s national airline, we carry a responsibility not only to our guests but also to our people; both in the present and as we prepare them for the future,” Mr Scurrah said.

“BRAVE VR reflects our commitment to building confident, resilient and people-focused leaders who can thrive in high-pressure environments while continuing to lead with care, empathy and authenticity.

“At Fiji Airways, our people are at the heart of everything we do, and it is this that drives our ambition to be the world’s happiest airline. Investing in leadership development is essential to maintaining the strong culture, trust and sense of belonging that define who we are as an airline; our Fiji Airways Vuvale.”

Fiji Airways Chief People Officer Anna Morris said the programme was designed to help leaders move from understanding leadership principles to applying them in real situations.

“True leadership is formed in moments of pressure, responsibility and care for people,” Ms Morris said.

“BRAVE VR places our leaders in realistic scenarios that challenge decision-making, emotional control and communication, helping build the confidence and judgement needed to lead effectively.

“This is about developing leaders who meet the highest global standards while remaining distinctly Pacific in who they are and how they lead.”

BRAVE VR Founder and Chief Executive Officer Emma Hall said immersive training helped address one of the most common leadership challenges faced by organisations.

“Most organisations do not have a knowledge problem. They have an action problem,” Ms Hall said.

“Leaders know what good leadership looks like. The gap is in actually doing it, especially under pressure. BRAVE VR was built to bridge that gap.”

Fiji Airways said the introduction of BRAVE VR supports its broader focus on leadership development, workplace culture and preparing its teams to operate confidently in a high-pressure global aviation environment.
