Clean energy efforts

Fiji Times Wednesday 06 September 2017  With a lot of talks in progress on the need to reduce carbon emission, the World Ocean Council says it will be a huge challenge to convert the energy source to more cleaner energy.

Paul Holthus, the founder and CEO of the council, said the challenge of reducing emission was also enormous because of a lot of factors.

For instance, 90 per cent of trade relied on shipping, therefore the conversion of energy would need to take into consideration the reliance of consumers on trade and shipping.

Mr Holthus said there was a need for a collaborative effort from all stakeholders to ensure the smooth transition.

He said the first step was always the hardest step.

This, he said, was one step that would need the concerted effort of everyone.  Read more…
