FBoS – Provisional Visitor Arrivals – November 2016

Provisional Visitor Arrivals from Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBS) for November 2016 Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for November 2016 totaled 62,488 an increase of 4.9% compared to a year earlier.

Provisional Visitor Arrivals from Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FBoS) for November 2016 Provisional numbers show that visitor arrivals for November 2016 totaled 62,488 an increase of 4.9% compared to a year earlier.

There were increases in the number of visitors from the following countries; New Zealand [2,279 or 24.4% to 11,633]; China [724 or 23.1% to 3,860]; Rest of Asia [391 or 32.1% to 1,608]; the United States of America [228 or 4.1% to 5,847]; the United Kingdom [81 or 6.2% to 1,379]; Canada [70 or 6.5% to 1,154]; Japan [60 or 14.6% to 471]; Continental Europe [42 or 1.5% to 2,776] and South Korea [13 or 1.7% to 794].

However, decreases were recorded in the number of visitors from Australia [down 875 or 3.0% to 28,234]; Pacific Islands [down 55 or 1.2% to 4,366] and Other Countries [down 49 or 11.8% to 366].

Visitors arriving for holiday purposes accounted for 74.1% of total arrivals, 9.6% came to visit their friends or relatives, 4.5% came for business purposes, while 11.8% visited Fiji for other reasons.
