Dirty Nadi Beach Turns Locals, Tourists Away

Fiji Sun Monday 04 September 2017  The Wailoaloa Beach reputation as a picnic spot has been tainted by illegal rubbish dumping.

The Fiji Sun team yesterday captured photos of rubbish piled around the area.

Some was packed in black garbage bags while some was scattered along the beach. It included disposed construction materials, broken tiles, broken bottles and dead animal parts.

Visitors to the beach in Nadi were disgusted and described the view as an eyesore.

A stench smell filled parts of the beach as decaying parts of slaughtered cows were also dumped at the beach.

Amit Chand, 38, of Legalega, Nadi, said people have stopped coming to the beach because of the rubbish.

He believes anti-litter laws must be enforced strictly to stop people from dumping their waste illegally.  Read more…
