Counterpoint Secures Accreditation for VMS Compliance

Counterpoint Group has secured Fiji Revenue and Customs Service accreditation for its CP VMS platform, giving accommodation providers using Hotel Link a more streamlined pathway to meet Fiji’s VAT Monitoring System requirements ahead of the adoption deadlines this year.

The accreditation makes Hotel Link one of the first bespoke global property management software systems to fully automate VAT reporting compliance for Fiji’s tourism industry. For hoteliers and accommodation providers, this provides a practical digital solution that connects existing booking and payment workflows with FRCS compliance requirements, without adding manual reporting pressure to daily operations.

The CP VMS service is securely hosted on the Google Cloud Platform and has been classified under the hospitality category, recognising the specific operational needs of accommodation providers. Unlike standard retail point-of-sale systems, tourism accommodation businesses manage a more complex flow of deposits, prepayments, guest invoicing, cancellations and refunds, often across multiple booking channels and payment stages.

To support this, Counterpoint Group developed CP VMS as specialised middleware that creates a secure connection between a merchant’s property management system and the FRCS Tax Core portal. The platform transmits the required financial data triggers, including payments and refunds, directly to FRCS to support compliance obligations without manual intervention or disruption to established operational processes.

Craig Smith, Director at Counterpoint Group, said the system was developed with the realities of hospitality operations in mind.

“Accommodation providers rely on specialised booking management platforms that help manage guest invoicing, including multi-stage payment timings such as deposits, prepayments and refunds, which are fundamentally different from traditional retail point-of-sale,” he said. “CP VMS was developed with this understanding to ensure accommodation providers can meet their regulatory requirements without disrupting their established operational processes, or needing to implement physical hardware.”

Existing Hotel Link customers are encouraged to contact Counterpoint Group to connect CP VMS to their current Hotel Link platform before the FRCS adoption deadline. Accommodation providers using other property management systems that have not yet been accredited may also contact Counterpoint Group to discuss whether CP VMS can be adopted within their existing PMS ecosystem.
