Australian govt provides USD8m boost to ADS to attract Chinese tour groups

Australia‘s Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham reported (05-Feb-2019) the government announced an AUD11 million (USD8.0 million) boost to the Approved Destination Scheme (ADS) to attract Chinese tour group tourists to Australia. The government’s ADS accounted for one quarter of all Chinese visitors to Australia p/a and around AUD1 billion (USD723.5 million) in expenditure. “China still presents enormous opportunities for growth and the more tour groups we can attract to Australia under the ADS, the more tourism dollars injected into Australian businesses and our economy”, Mr Birmingham said. read more…
