The Blue Swan Daily, 01 May 2018 – It’s back to that time of fuel price rises again. Most of us have forgotten the unhappy term “fuel surcharge”, the amount airlines add onto the price of a ticket when oil costs more. It’s a sleight of hand that intermediaries and travellers alike don’t have a great fondness for; but it works to generate added income, pretty much “ancillary revenue” in reality.
It’s a bit like your friendly supermarket selling tomatoes for the same price, but adding on a bit at the till to cover the increase in fuel costs incurred by their road hauliers. Read more…
