HE World Wildlife Fund Pacific has commended villagers of Kinoya in Suva for releasing an endangered green turtle (Chelonia mydas).
They had caught the turtle with the intention to consume it.
A statement from WWF said the creature was caught by fisherwomen last Monday but was released after two villagers — Apisai Tinaikoro and Amini Vakalala — advised against it because of the current ban on the harvest of sea turtles. Read more…
