Fiji Times, Thurs 25 Jan – THE State-owned enterprises (SOEs) paid $78.8 million in dividends to Government last year compared with the $4 million dividend payment made in 2007.
Ministry of Public Enterprises permanent secretary Jitendra Singh said the SOEs recorded significant improvement in the compliance of their reporting requirements which attributed more positively to their profits.
“We had monitored around 21 SOEs and were pleased to provide favourable reports to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.” Mr Singh said major improvement in the performances of the SOEs may mostly be attributed to the appointment of competent board directors too in doing a marvellous job in the improvement of their performances.
