28 NOVEMBER 2024 – South Sea Cruises Group (SSCG), Fiji’s leading marine tour operator, has acquired Tivua Island from Captain Cook Cruises Management Pte Ltd.
Under the acquisition terms, Captain Cook Cruises Fiji will continue to operate on Tivua Island until the 31st of May 2025 including the continuation of their Tivua Island Day Sail Experience.
SSCG will then close the island to undertake a major redevelopment to transform this piece of paradise into Fiji’s newest day trip destination offering a world class customer experience.
The redevelopment and reopening of Tivua Island are set to compliment the unprecedented surge in hotel and resort projects currently underway in the greater Nadi and Denarau area by offering an increase in the number of quality experiences available to the islands. SSCG understands better than most that international guests staying in these hotels and resorts aspire to explore the islands through one or more day trips.
A redeveloped Tivua Island will cater to this demand, offering an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of one of Fiji’s very best beaches and extensive coral gardens all while experiencing the world-class hospitality and upgraded on-island facilities.
SSCG looks forward to sharing our redevelopment plans for Tivua Island in the next several months, and more so the development itself upon reopening the island in 2026.
The acquisition of Tivua Island extends SSCG’s extensive portfolio of award-winning products and services. This includes Fiji’s two most visited day trip destinations, South Sea Island and Malamala Beach Club, as well as the highly successful Sabre by South Sea Sailing. Adding to this, SSCG is set to launch an exciting fast-boat experience under the South Sea Cats brand in April 2025. SSCG also operates Blue Lagoon Cruises, Fiji’s only locally owned and operated small-ship cruising product, and provides accommodation packages and hop-on/hop-off travel passes through its Awesome Adventures Fiji brand. Additionally, SSCG continues to lead the way with the operation of resort transfers and day trips to nearly all Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands as part of its comprehensive array of South Sea Cruises products and services.
South Sea Cruises Group and the products and services mentioned within are all brands operated by South Sea Cruises Pte Ltd.
