HEAVY RAIN WARNING
A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR EASTERN AND NORTHERN VITI LEVU, YASAWA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP.
A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE REST OF FIJI.
SITUATION:
TROPICAL DEPRESSION TD14F CENTRE [1000HPA] WAS ANALYSED NEAR 16.4S 179.1 EAST OR ABOUT 20KM WEST OF LABASA AND ABOUT 220KM WEST-NORTHWEST OF VANUABALAVU AT 1PM TODAY. TD14F MOVING SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 20KM/HR THROUGH THE GROUP. ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN AFFECTS THE COUNTRY. THE POTENTIAL FOR TD14F TO DEVELOP INTO A TROPICAL CYCLONE OVER FIJI WATERS IS LOW( 5-20%).
FORECAST:
FOR VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND LAU GROUP: PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS.
FOR YASAWA GROUP, EASTERN AND NORTHERN PARTS OF VITI LEVU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP: PERIODS OF RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS.
FOR THE REST OF FIJI: OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND FEW THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY FALLS. SHOWERS POSSIBLY INCREASING TO RAIN AND BECOMING FREQUENT AND HEAVY AT TIMES WITH SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS FROM LATER TODAY. LOCALISED HEAVY RAIN MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING IN THESE AREAS.
