SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER EIGHT FOR FLOOD ISSUED FROM RSMC NADI AT 4.00PM ON TUESDAY THE 21th OF FEBRUARY 2017

FLOOD ALERT

A FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE LOW LYING AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS ADJACENT TO DREKETILAILAI STATION AND DOWNSTREAM OF QAWA RIVER.

A FLOOD ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LOW LYING AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS ADJACENT TO OTHER MAJOR RIVERS FOR THE EASTERN VITI LEVU, VANUA LEVU AND TAVEUNI.

SITUATION

TROPICAL DEPRESSION TD14F CENTRE [1000HPA] WAS ANALYSED NEAR 16.4S 179.1 EAST OR ABOUT 20KM WEST OF LABASA AND ABOUT 220KM WEST-NORTHWEST OF VANUABALAVU AT 1PM TODAY. TD14F MOVING SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 20KM/HR THROUGH THE GROUP. ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN AFFECTS THE COUNTRY. THE POTENTIAL FOR TD14F TO DEVELOP INTO A TROPICAL CYCLONE OVER FIJI WATERS IS LOW( 5-20%).

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR EASTERN VITI LEVU, YASAWA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, KADAVU AND NORTHERN LAU GROUP.

A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE REST OF FIJI.

HIGH TIDE: 03.29PM (Time) 1.70M (Height)

LEVEL AT DREKETILAILAI STATION WAS 1.83M AT 3.30PM WHICH IS 0.17M BELOW ALERT LEVEL AND INCREASING.

LEVEL AT QAWA BRIDGE STATION WAS 1.87M AT 3.30PM WHICH IS 0.13M BELOW ALERT LEVEL AND INCREASING.
