Shangri-La Fiji is Fiji’s Only ISO 22000:2018-Certified Resort

(Yanuca Island, Fiji 24 July 2026) Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji has successfully achieved recertification for its Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system and ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System. The globally recognised food safety system establishes rigorous controls for identifying, managing and preventing potential food safety risks across culinary operations. The recertification reaffirms its position as Fiji’s only resort certified to this internationally recognised food safety standard.

Following a stringent independent audit process, the recertification confirms that comprehensive food safety practices remain embedded across the resort’s culinary operations, with robust controls maintained throughout every stage of the culinary process, from ingredient sourcing and receiving through preparation, service and ongoing monitoring.

“Achieving ISO 22000:2018 recertification is a significant milestone for Shangri-La Yanuca Island and reflects the dedication, teamwork and care demonstrated by our colleagues across the resort,” said Francis Lee, General Manager.

“As Fiji’s only resort certified to ISO 22000:2018, we are proud to give our guests added confidence that every dining experience is supported by the highest standards of care and quality.”

The certification extends beyond the resort’s seven restaurants and bars to include all colleague dining facilities and operational kitchens, covering a total of 15 food and beverage outlets. The resort’s Hygiene and Sanitation team, led by Hygiene and Sanitation Manager Simione Navokavokadrau, worked closely with colleagues across culinary, stewarding, purchasing and operations to ensure rigorous food safety practices are consistently upheld.

As Fiji’s only resort certified to ISO 22000:2018, Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji continues to set a benchmark for food safety excellence in Fiji’s hospitality industry, combining internationally recognized standards with authentic Fijian hospitality.

In 2001, the Shangri-La Group introduced the Shangri-La Food Safety (SFS) Management System, developed around internationally recognised HACCP principles. The programme provides a consistent food safety framework across Shangri-La properties worldwide and continues to evolve in line with global standards, emerging risks and industry best practices. Since 2023, Shangri-La properties have further strengthened this commitment through ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System certification, reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement and internationally recognised food safety practices. Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji has maintained its longstanding leadership in food safety, becoming the first hotel in Fiji to achieve HACCP certification in 2008 and remaining Fiji’s only resort certified to ISO 22000:2018.
