Service urges public to make use of tax amnesty

THE taxpaying public have been urged to take advantage of the tax amnesty period which is set to end in two weeks.

Tax amnesty by the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) includes waiver of penalties on registration, outstanding returns and tax payments, for any taxable period prior to December 31, 2017.

This is provided taxes are fully paid and outstanding returns are lodged before the end of the amnesty period.

FRCS chief executive officer Visvanath Das in a statement yesterday said the amnesty program which began on June 30 was aimed at providing relief to taxpayers with annual gross income of less than $1.5m, from the burden of penalties. Read more…
