Fiji Times Saturday 30 September 2017 THE Coral Coast Chapter of the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association has called on Government to look at establishing a plastic recycling factory in the country.
The chapter has also urged Government to look at implementing a refundable deposit on all plastic bottles.
Chapter president and general manager of the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort Peter Hopgood said setting up a factory and a scheme where plastic bottles could be redeemed would go a long way in reducing indiscriminate littering.
“One of the challenges the resort general managers find in Fiji is that there is nowhere for us to recycle plastic waste,” he said.
Mr Hopgood said resorts and hotels recycled glass, cardboard, scrap metal and kitchen oil but there was nothing for plastic.
