The Blue Swan Daily, 15 August 2019 – Nauru Airlines chairman Trevor Jensen, speaking on the sidelines of the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation & Corporate Travel Summit, stated the carrier is developing a fleet modernisation plan (ATW, 09-Aug-2019). Mr Jensen reported the carrier is interested in small, narrowbody aircraft, including the EmbraerE2 family, A220, as well as the addition of Boeing 737-700 aircraft. Mr Jensen reported the carrier expects to put into operation a new narrowbody fleet within two years, with Boeing 737-700 aircraft acting as “an excellent interim solution” to immediately “stabilise and expand the business now”. Mr Jensen noted range, size, and cargo capacity will be important to the carrier, with efforts to expand its freight operations in the future.
