(NATADOLA, FIJI) Monday 23 rd April 2018 – InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is delighted to announce the success of Earth Day 2018 on 22nd April after a weeklong celebration; and educational awareness of the importance on how each individual is a key pillar of support to conserve the environment.
The week saw guests and the resort team alike participating in marine talks by expert Marine Biologists based at Reef Safari, and then snorkeling or diving offshore to do some coral planting to re-propagate the reef to encourage the health of the marine world.
From a culinary experience, the dining offering at signature restaurant Navo was made a special one with a selective offering that was composed with fresh local ingredients sourced from areas only 5km from the resort. Guests had the opportunity to enjoy Fiji’s provenance with a choice between a freshly smoked pumpkin risotto complemented by corn, farm fresh okra and young fern leaves; or a root vegetable filo parcel which was inspired by a traditional Fijian favourite dish – palusami, drizzled over with a refreshing basil vinaigrette and a delicate coconut crust.
Earth Week also saw recycled art entries made by the resort team with creative artistic flair – from recycled toy trains and more. The winners of the ‘Reuse, Reduce, Recycle’ competition will be announced in the general employees meeting this week, which is very exciting.
Friday was the highlight of the Earth Week Celebration, with the resort team, their families and the students from nearby schools conducting massive beach clean campaign on Natadola Beach – covering three main areas of the 2km stretch. Afterwards, the beach clean group had a relaxing afternoon picnic with some food and drinks on the beach whilst enjoying the efforts of keeping the environment clean and how this all plays a part to keep the natural surrounds alive and well for future generations to come.
