FUNDS raised at the Fiji Regatta Week will be handed over to Sea Mercy — a benevolent program developed for critical health, disaster, economic development and education care needs for remote islanders.
Musket Cove Resort director William Moffat said Sea Mercy was an organisation which was synonymous to the meaning of aiding and developing communities.
Sea Mercy embarks on several community initiatives each year such as remote island soils education which helps toward sustainable farming and economic development.
Other initiatives include the Floating Health Care Clinic and the exciting Amatasi Project which strives to empower local communities to be self-sufficient in a sustainable manner and to support and educate local populations in the lost art of transport using the wind.
“With the fragility and on going threats to Fiji’s and the Pacific’s ecosystem, I am sure our sailing community will agree, that Sea Mercy and the amazing community work it carries out is an obvious choice where to donate”, said Mr Moffat.
He also paid special tribute to Bay of Islands Port Opua who initiated a one Musket Money donation for each entry into this year’s Hobie Cat Challenge.
Mr Moffat at said as well as $5 from each entrant, Musket Cove would also give 50 cents from every drink sold to wards the work being carried out by Sea Mercy.
