Fiji Sun, March 15 – The Fiji Airways Inaugural Wine Tour was organised by Victoria Wines in collaboration with its Barossa based wine partner Yalumba Winery.
Victoria Wines director Kate Vusoniwailala said the initiative was a response to the introduction of the Adelaide route by Fiji Airways.
“Adelaide is the gateway to premier Australian wine region – the Barossa. Eight people from Fiji are attending from the tourism and hospitality industry. “For the emerging food and wine culture in Fiji, this sort of event will provide an opportunity to engage directly with the wine industry and develop a greater appreciation and enjoyment of wine.
Victoria Wines, she said, has developed the tour with wine partner Yalumba to enable Fijians to connect directly with the source of many wines in the portfolio in an engaging way. “The tour has some of the great winemaker names in the Australian wine industry leading tours and tastings for the fortunate participants in a memorable and enjoyable way.
On the second day, the participants journeyed through the Oxford Landing Winery for a tour and tasting with winemaker, Matthew Zadow. “Then onto the Clare Valley, where we meet with Peter Barry, the patriarch of Jim Barry Wines. “He is the son of Jim Barry, whom the wines are named after, Peter’s children; Tom, Sam and Olivia work as winemaker, commercial manager and brand ambassador respectively.
Victoria Wines have set their sights for a wine tour to New Zealand tour next.
