Fiji Sun Saturday 21 October 2017 Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Jone Usamate has encouraged unions to engage in good faith dialogue.
He said he had taken note of today’s march which would raise a lot of issues, but encouraged the unions to have a positive dialogue.
Members of the Fiji Trades Union Congress will today march from the Flea Market to Ratu Sukuna Park to protest against Government’s decision on civil servant contracts, reforms and the minimum wage rate.
FTUC General Secretary, Felix Anthony said he was looking forward to the march and invited all workers to participate in exercising their rights.
“We already got the permit to march,” Mr Anthony said.
“The march is going to be from 10:30 am and we will have a rally at Sukuna Park until 1:30 pm,” he said.
Yesterday, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Lynda Tabuya released a video on social medial inviting people to join the march.
