Fiji Times Tuesday 11 April 2017 THE local tourism industry may need to protect and promote the local culture and heritage to remain sustainable.
This was the view of Leleuvia Island Resort managing director Colin Philp after they launched an art exhibition on the island.
“I think the tourism industry has been very effective in the last couple of years but we don’t do enough to promote and protect our culture, our heritage and natural resources. We still get the bulk of our tourism from Australia and New Zealand and all they want to do is sit on the beach and drink beer and that’s not sustainable,” said Mr Philp.
“We need to diversify, get more people coming here for this — our culture, heritage and the gifts that we have.” Read more…
