Bid to remove ships

The Fiji Times, 15 February – THE Fiji Ports Corporation Ltd has called for tenders from interested companies to remove derelict ships that continue to be an eyesore at the Suva Harbour.

In an advertisement published in the media over the weekend, the ports authority said it intended to remove all the vessels that were moored or sunk inside the Suva Harbour and declared derelict under the provision of the Sea Ports Management Act 2005.

It’s understood more than 20 derelict vessels lie within these waters and to remove each sunken vessel would cost about $100,000. Read more…
