YACHTING remains one of the most crucial sectors of tourism in the country.
A new survey conducted by Australian firm AMSTEC Pty Ltd in partnership with Port Denarau Marina, Vuda Marina and Australian-funded Market Development Facility has shown the sector rakes in about $59 million annually.
According to the Yachting Economic Impact Study for Fiji, the country welcomed s many as 714 yachts bringing in 4330 crew members and guests.
The survey also highlighted that yachting was one of the highest yielding tourism segments as an average spend for each visitor was as much as $6584.
Superyachts visiting Fiji have also amassed an overall contribution of $7.8m, with each visit generating $167,000. Read more:
