Nadi, Fiji Marriott International Fiji Hotels welcomed guests at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremonies across the three properties: Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay and others on Friday, 1st December.
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is a cherished tradition, symbolizing the start of the festive season and fostering a sense of community among both guests and staff.
Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay hosted the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with a white themed “Heavenly Christmas”. The event commenced with an entertaining march through the resort by the St. Thomas High School band and Christmas carols sung by the local village choir.
The resort also hosted guests for a traditional Fijian Kava Ceremony, followed by the announcement of the Kid’s Christmas Tree Ornaments Competition winner. As part of the resort’s community goals, the annual competition always engages children from nearby Primary Schools within the prominent villages near the resort, to decorate an ornament using sustainable materials that is always proudly displayed at the resort’s public space.
On Denarau Island, Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort guests enjoyed live Christmas carols performed by the Narewa Village Choir, along with captivating performances from Fiji’s iconic VOU Dance Company. The lighting of the magical Christmas tree at the center of the Hotel lobby space along with the arrival of Santa handing out gifts from his big red Santa Chair to children of Treasure House Christian Children’s Home and young guests, were the highlight of the event.
As a part of the hotel’s commitment to giving back to the community through Marriott International’s Serve 360 program, Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort and Sheraton Denarau Villas had pro-actively offered essential support through the resort’s Solia Lesu Charity Foundation for the Home. The Hotel Complex was honored to showcase and share the start of the festive season celebrations with representatives of the Home.
In the Mamanuca islands, the local Yanuya Village choir caroled special Christmas tunes and provided live entertainment for guests. Santa’s footprints were also found on the island as guests were treated to special treats for the evening.
Neeraj Chadha, Multi-Property Vice President Pacific Islands, Marriott International & General Manager Westin and Sheraton Resorts, Fiji Complex said, “Our team has put in heartfelt efforts to transform our hotels and resorts for the festive season, creating a welcoming haven for our guests and the local community to celebrate together.”
Marriott International Fiji Hotels continues to celebrate Christmas throughout December leading into the New Year, with activities that allow guests to immerse in the rich Fijian culture.
