MTCA, ππππ’, π π’π£π’ β πππ² π, ππππ, Against the stunning backdrop of Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort, the nation’s tourism leaders gathered for the official opening of Tourism Super Week 2025, united under the theme “Veisolisoli for Success: Sharing Knowledge, Building Futures.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Hon. Viliame Gavoka stirred the audience with a powerful address: “We are gathered here by something far more powerful than professional obligation β that invisible thread connecting us all is Veisolisoli, Fiji’s timeless tradition of reciprocal giving.”
The Minister highlighted how this cultural wisdom translates to business success: “What sets Fiji apart? It’s when a veteran hotelier mentors a village homestay operatorβ¦ when international investors partner with local artisansβ¦ when visitors become family through genuine care. This is Veisolisoli in action.”
Outlining the ambitious agenda, Hon. Gavoka announced, “Our MSMEs will gain crucial skills, our tour guides will train as cultural ambassadors, and we’ll plant seeds of sustainable practice across our industry β because sharing knowledge today builds our futures tomorrow.”
The Minister issued both a commitment and a challenge: “We’re enhancing regional connectivity and cruise opportunities, but progress needs all hands. This week, I urge you to mentor one rising star, explore one bold idea, and create one lasting partnership.”
“When we meet next year”, he envisioned, “let’s celebrate villages transformed by tourism, youth employed in thriving businesses, and innovations born in these very halls.”
Concluding with deep conviction, Hon. Gavoka rallied attendees: “Let us advance together with vision, passion, and our spirit of Veisolisoli β because when we give generously to each other, our entire industry prospers.”
Tourism Super Week 2025 continues through Friday at Sheraton Fiji, featuring workshops on digital transformation, sustainable tourism, and cultural preservation.
