Tourism Fiji Hosts International Market Update Webinar

Nadi, 24 April 2020 – Tourism Fiji conducted a webinar today Friday 24 April, hosted by the organization’s Regional Managers from Australia, New Zealand, North America and UK/Europe.

The webinar was specifically for people who work in Fiji’s tourism industry and the team covered of the impact that the pandemic is having in each of their respective markets.  It also covered how Tourism Fiji is responding to these impacts.

Although no stranger to the industry, the newly appointed Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, Hon. Faiyaz Siddiq Koya, said this is the second such webinar that Tourism Fiji has organized in the last month.

He said, “While we may not have tourists in market, we cannot be complacent. We’ve been working with Tourism Fiji to keep our industry updated and well informed during this pandemic and to give them useful insight into the situation in our international markets as well.  The tourism industry has always been a cooperative industry.  Responding to these challenging times will require a whole lot of collaboration and it’s great to see so many of our industry staying informed through these webinars”.

190 tourism businesses from across Fiji signed up for the webinar and Tourism Fiji plans to continue to hold these webinars on a regular basis.

Tourism Fiji Director of Marketing, Mrs Emma Campbell said, “Our team is working hard to find new ways and ideas to inspire travellers and keep Fiji in their hearts and minds at this time.  For now, our messaging across our destination is “Sota tale stay safe and we will see you soon”. We have been delighted to see our destination align to this message following our first webinar.”
