Coral Coast, Fiji, June 2026: Tambua Sands Beach Resort has partnered with Pacific Polytech Sigatoka to provide practical internship placements for students preparing to enter Fiji’s tourism and hospitality industry.
The Coral Coast resort has welcomed three students into key operational areas, giving them first-hand exposure to the daily work that supports guest service and resort operations.
The students are Mereisi Nabuci, who has joined the Housekeeping Department; Meresiana Aluma, who has joined the Food and Beverage Department; and Milinia Nasiqa, who has joined the Front Office Department.
The internship programme gives the students an opportunity to apply their classroom learning in a live resort environment while developing practical workplace skills, industry confidence and a clearer understanding of career pathways within tourism.
Resort Manager Angela Bob said Tambua Sands Beach Resort was pleased to support Pacific Polytech Sigatoka and contribute to the development of Fiji’s future hospitality workforce.
“Tourism is one of Fiji’s most important industries, and its success depends on the people who deliver exceptional service every day. At Tambua Sands, we are proud to play a role in developing the next generation of hospitality professionals by providing real-world learning opportunities and mentorship.”
Angela said the placements were particularly meaningful as they marked the students’ first internship experience in the industry.
“For these three young women, this is their first internship experience, and we are excited to support them as they begin their journey in the tourism industry. Through their placements in Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage, they will gain a deeper understanding of resort operations, guest service, teamwork, professionalism, and the important role hospitality plays in creating memorable experiences for visitors to Fiji.”
The students will work alongside experienced resort team members and gain practical exposure to guest relations, service delivery, operational procedures, communication, workplace professionalism and the standards required in a tourism business.
Angela added that the partnership also reflected the resort’s commitment to local communities and long-term industry development.
“As a locally operated resort on the Coral Coast, we believe it is important to create opportunities for young Fijians to learn, grow, and build meaningful careers. Today’s interns are tomorrow’s supervisors, managers, and industry leaders. By investing in their development now, we are contributing to the long-term sustainability and success of Fiji’s tourism sector.”
Tambua Sands Beach Resort said it remains committed to working with educational institutions and supporting practical learning opportunities that help young people build meaningful careers in hospitality.
The resort looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Pacific Polytech Sigatoka and supporting future students through industry-based learning.
