SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER SEVENTY EIGHT FOR HEAVY RAIN ISSUED FROM RSMC NADI AT 05.00PM ON TUESDAY THE 14TH OF FEBRUARY, 2017.

HEAVY RAIN WARNING

A HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR EASTERN HALF OF VITI LEVU, YASAWA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS, LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP. A HEAVY RAIN ALERT REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE REST OF FIJI.

SITUATION:

A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE REMAINS SLOW MOVING OVER FIJI. MEANWHILE, ANOTHER TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WITH ASSOCIATED CLOUD AND RAIN JUST TO THE NORTH OF FIJI IS GRADUALLY DRIFTING SOUTH TOWARDS THE GROUP.

FOR EASTERN HALF OF VITI LEVU, SOUTHERN LAU AND LOMAIVITI GROUP: PERIODS OF RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES AND SQUALLY THUNDERSTORMS. FOR YASAWA GROUP, VANUA LEVU, TAVEUNI AND NEARBY SMALLER ISLANDS AND NORTHERN LAU GROUP: OCCASIONAL RAIN, HEAVY AT TIMES AND FEW THUNDERSTORMS. RAIN BECOMING FREQUENT AND HEAVY FROM LATER TONIGHT. FOR THE REST OF FIJI: OCCASIONAL SHOWERS AND ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. SHOWERS INCREASING TO RAIN, BECOMING FREQUENT AND HEAVY BY THURSDAY. LOCALISED HEAVY RAIN MAY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING.
