Fiji Times, Thurs 25 Jan – Members of the Sigatoka business community plan to revive the Sigatoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The 17 members present at the meeting agreed to the revival but passed a motion to rename the body Nadroga Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A statement from the organisation yesterday said president of the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr Ram Raju spearheaded the revival with Dr Salik Ram Govind. Dr Govind is the owner of Shalini Gardens and Hotel in Olosara was also appointed interim chairperson. Other interim office bearers elected include: • vice chairman – Vijay Narayan of Sigatoka Electric • secretary/treasurer – Dr Ashank Naidu, GP • 5 committee members – Shanil Naidu (MD, True Blue Hotel), Sesha Reddy (businessman), Natwar Singh (businessman), Rajend Singh (businessman) and a lady member to be incorporated. The meeting was also attended by the vice-president of Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry Annemarie De Voss.
