Fiji Sun Wednesday 06 September 2017 A local ship operator has called on authorities to look into the current state of the Savusavu Jetty in Vanua Levu.
Goundar Shipping Limited (GSL) owner and managing director George Goundar has expressed concerns over the current state of the jetty, deeming it to be unsafe for use.
Mr Goundar said that it is paramount to maintain the safety of his passengers and vehicle owners that pass through the Savusavu jetty.
“The jetty is at the stage where it needs emergency repair as it looks like it is about to collapse and the safety of passengers and trucks is my concern,” he said.
Mr Goundar said he personally contacted the Permanent Secretary for Infrastructure and Transport, Paul Bailey and informed him abouthis concern.
“He (Mr Bayly) has responded to my email and has said that the authorities from the Fiji Roads Authority have been informed.” Read more…
