Denarau Island launched its month-long Pinktober Breast Cancer Awareness program with a pink uniform initiative on Friday, 03 October 2025. Across all departments, staff donned their favourite pink attire to acknowledge their personal and the resort-wide intention of raising awareness on the impact breast cancer on families and community.
The resort dedicated every Friday in October to “Wear Pink Day” and also sold pink ribbons to staff and guests to wear throughout the month.
Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Director People & Culture, Mrs. Sharon Work says that “it is important that the Radisson acknowledge Pinktober as most employees would have either had primary or secondary experience with a loved one living or lost due to breast cancer’.
To mark the end of Pinktober, the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji is organizing walkathon on Saturday 01 November 2025. Resort guests, corporate partners, local communities and employees have been invited to participate. This will commence at 7.00am and will conclude at 11.00am with a Breast Cancer Awareness session were cancer survivors will share their experiences and stories of resilience with employees. The program will also include the presentation cheque to Fiji Cancer Society to support the great work they do.
Breast cancer is a significant health issue in Fiji, and cases are increasing where a high proportion of diagnoses occur at advanced stages due to delayed presentation and limited access to care. The Radisson Blu Resort Fiji hopes that through its Pinktober program, it will has helped raise awareness on the importance of early detection and treatment amongst its female employees and their families.
