Radisson Blu Resort Fiji has Santa on Fiji Time

Wednesday, 31 January 2018 – Santa is showing no signs of slowing down at the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, continuing his visits to over 5 different schools in the Nadi area over the past week. On Fiji time and dressed in his full attire with a sack of lollies, children from Champs on Wheels, Mulomulo Secondary School, Sabeto College & Nadi District Kindergarten were delighted with Santa’s surprise visit. Stationary, projectors, a multimedia speaker system and mini laptops were donated to the various schools, while library books were being shipped and distributed to a few others.

“With the first quarter well on its way, the Responsible Business Committee at the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji have been busy with its ‘Adopt a School’ voluntary programme. The Resort has also reached out in assisting Nawai Kindy donating materials worth $1325 to complete their kindy restroom”, says John Bendtsen, General Manager of the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji.

A few of the winners from the resorts ‘Adopt a School’ competition last December, personally delivered their school items valued at $350 each this week which was a heart-warming experience for all. Staff were encouraged to nominate kindy’s in need of assistance and all schools nominated received a kindy pack with teaching aids and supplies designed for early child education. “To go back to the interior and give back to my community was an emotional experience because I know these kids will truly appreciate all the books and stationary we have donated”, says Kelera Bale who works for the Housekeeping Department at the resort. Rukurukulevu Kindergarten in Sigatoka and Vunidawa District Kingergarten in Naitasiri were among the kindy’s nominated by staff who received a carton of school stationary this week.

“The Responsible Business team have had a very proactive and rewarding week reaching out to the community. This week alone 15 library cartons have been handed to Swami Vivekananda college in Nadi, 15 cartons shipped to Labasa and 15 more cartons ready to be shipped to Tuvalu next week. We are proud of our ‘Adopt a School’ programme and I commend the Radisson Blu Fiji team for taking responsibility to help schools and communities in need. Our stance on responsible business will remain throughout 2018 as we continue to invest and develop local schools and communities”, says John Bendtsen.
