Wednesday, 20 June 2018 – Radisson Blu Resort Fiji’s ‘Adopt-a-School Programme’ has a list of achievements to celebrate! Foremost is the strengthened and ongoing 5-year collaboration with a voluntary organization based in Adelaide called South Pacific School Aid (SPSA).
SPSA has shipped over 90,000 books and resources to date in support of the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji’s ‘Adopt-a-School’ initiative. Through the Responsible Business Committee head by Radisson Blu Resort Fiji employee Satya Narayan and the former General Manager Gerard Knight’s wife Trish Knight, the ‘Adopt-a-School Programme’ have established over 30 school libraries and distributed reading resources to remote Primary and Secondary schools on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
The partnership started 5 years ago when a volunteer of SPSA Adelaide, Kathy Sampson, visited Fiji on a family holiday and decided that she would like to assist in a school library set-up. Nadi Primary was chosen as the first school to receive a new library and the protégé began. Kathy went back to Adelaide after gifting Nadi Primary an amazing new teaching resource and Trish, alongside a hardworking group of volunteers and the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji family who continued with the much needed work to assist other schools.
