Climate Change: Fiji Airways Staff Set On Meeting Pledge

Fiji Sun Sunday 22 October 2017  As part of the Fiji Airways 2017 target for ‘Every take-off, one tree’ initiative 100 Fiji Airways staff members along with their family members planted 2000 mangrove seedlings at Lautoka’s Saweni Beach and  My Suva Park at the Nasese foreshore yesterday. The Airline has planted 2500 trees in total. They had planted 500 mahogany trees in Nadi earlier this year.

Fiji Airways pledged to plant a tree for every international take-off from its home airport, Nadi International Airport, last year.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Andre Viljoen said the initiative meant a lot to all Fiji Airways staff.

“We’re committed to our environment and offsetting as much of our carbon emissions as possible,” Mr Viljoen said.

He thanked the Fijian Department of Forestry and Ministry of Environment for their support which had helped the national airlines to achieve a very special tree-planting milestone.  Read more…
