Plantation Golf Day raises more than F$8000 for Animals Fiji

Plantation Island Resort held the inaugural Animals Fiji Golf Day on Saturday 18th March 2017, hosting 60 local golfers on the island’s 9-hole golf course. Thanks to sponsorships & donations by local businesses plus registration fees from players, Plantation Island Resort can proudly announce that F$8650 has been raised to go towards Animals Fiji’s de-sexing and outreach programs.

Between their five clinics across the country, Animals Fiji de-sex approximately 100-150 cats and dogs each month, preventing thousands of unwanted animals from suffering a life of neglect on the streets. It costs the charity organization on average FJ$150 per animal to perform a spay or neuter surgery and they only charge the public a heavily subsidized fee of FJ $25. Therefore, the funds raised at the Plantation Island Resort Charity Golf Tournament will ensure that they can continue their important work in providing these essential public health services as well as basic veterinary services throughout Fiji at affordable subsidized costs.
