The Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) held its 51st Annual General Meeting at the Radisson Blu Fiji Resort on Friday, 10th June 2016. The Association awarded a Certificate of “Honorary Life Membership” to Mr. Patrick Wong.
In presenting the Award, President, Dixon Seeto spoke on the many contributions that Mr Wong had made to the Association and its Membership.
He spoke of Patrick’s loyalty to the Association and his many years of service. Despite his resignation from the Board in 2015, Patrick had continued to serve and support the Association.
Mr Patrick Wong had served in the industry since 1981 in various capacities. He was elected to the FHA Board in 2003 until his resignation in 2015.
His service included:-
- 2005 – 2015 FHTA Vice President
- 2003 – 2015 Chair, FHTA Human Resources Committee
- 2006 Member, Tourism Development Plan Steering Committee
- 2006 – 2007 Member, Hospitality & Tourism Industry Training Advisory Committee (HTITAC), The Training & Productivity Authority of Fiji (TPAF)
- 2006 – 2008 Chairman, Fiji EI Chapter, Education Institute (EI) Of The American Hotel & Lodging Association
- 2007 – 2011 Chairman, Fiji Islands Visitors Bureau/Tourism Fiji
- 2008 – 2010 Member, Fiji Institute of Technology Council
- 2008 Member, National Council of Building A Better Fiji
- 2009 – 2012 Member, National People’s Charter Advisory Council
- 2010 – 2014 Employer’s Rep, National Wages Council
Patrick also served on FHTA Board sub-committees such as Proprietary Rights and Industrial Relations (IR).
