The Official Opening of the “Employers Hub” at 42 Gorrie St, was on Wednesday 30th November, 2016 at 4.30pm and was attended by officials and FHTA members.
The ceremony was officiated by His Excellency the President, Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote.
The venue was at the “Employers Hub” at 42 Gorrie Street, Suva, Fiji.
At the opening, Mr Dixon Seeto, President of the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, welcomed the Chief Guest, His Excellency, The President, Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konousi Konrote and said “The Fiji Hotel Association was conceived in 1965 at the start of our growing industry”
“On 30 November 1993 the FEFHA Partnership was officially registered to formalise a strong working partnership between our two associations at 63% – Fiji Employers Federation & 37% Fiji Hotel Association ”
“The FEFHA Partnership purchased the 42 Gorrie Street property in 1994, a full 22 years ago.”
“Throughout the years the Association has worked with various stakeholders to steer tourism towards being the key economic driver for the country – driving it to its current level of 37% of Fiji’s GPD”
Mr Setto joked “With this new building together this well an truly seals the marriage between CEF and FHTA”
He continued, “FHTA now has 268 registered members which makes up 80% of all room inventory in the country as well as including members from the dive and marine industries.”
“As we head into the future, the Association has embarked on a journey to ensure that FHTA remains relevant to the industry and the nation. As such the Secretariat is now housed in a building that reflects the strength of the Association”
“FHTA welcomes all guests and associates attending this long awaited event and look forward to working with you all – government ministries, stakeholders, associates and members.”
