Fiji Times Tuesday 05 September 2017 DISCUSSIONS are nearing final stages in the development of a national organic policy, which would guide and set standards for Fiji’s flourishing organic sector.
In an interview with this newspaper, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya confirmed they were finalising discussions with the agriculture ministry on the national organic policy.
“This is to set the framework and also the branding for organic products in Fiji,” Mr Koya said.
“It does take a little while and is not something that can be done overnight.
“There’s the certifications to look at and planning which are necessary and we are almost at the end.”
Mr Koya reiterated that this was a very important aspect of our agriculture sector, which they very much looking forward to capitalise on tremendously. Read more…
